For employees who work predominantly at a computer screen, we offer occupational health check-ups in accordance with the recommendations of the employers’ liability insurance association on “Work at computer screens”. This check-up may conclude that special visual aids are required for your work. In accordance with the Regulation on Occupational Health Check-ups (ArbMedVV), Annex Part 4 (2) of 18 December 2008, the employer must provide computer workstation glasses (BAP glasses) in this case. The State of Rhineland-Palatinate reimburses the costs of purchasing the glasses. The procurement process, including cost reimbursement, has been revised and significantly simplified compared to the process previously used (as of February 2025). All that is now required is a prescription for the BAP glasses from the company doctor following the examination. The consultation with an ophthalmologist that was previously required is no longer necessary.

Step-by-step procedure:

  • First, arrange a preventive health check-up appointment with the company doctor using the online appointment request form for the Landau or Kaiserslautern sites.

  • Once the appointment has been arranged, the examination will be carried out by the company doctor.

  • If the eye examination concludes that BAP glasses are necessary, the company doctor will issue the relevant prescription.

  • With this prescription, you can go directly to an optician and have the appropriate BAP glasses made (please note the important information regarding reimbursement listed above). Please ensure that the invoice specifies the glasses as ‘computer workstation glasses’.

  • You must initially cover the cost of the BAP glasses yourself. Once you have submitted the reimbursement claim to Department 6.4, the costs will be reimbursed and the corresponding amount paid into an account specified by you.

  • Please submit the prescription from the company doctor and the invoice from the optician together with the reimbursement claim.
