Analysis of crack behaviour
The structural behavior of GFRP reinforcement in concrete differs from steel, primarily due to its linear-elastic response until failure, unlike steel’s yielding. These differences also affect failure mechanisms and crack patterns. To study the interaction between FRP and concrete, computed tomography (CT), a non-destructive testing method, was used. CT enables detailed internal imaging, revealing crack development and internal damage. This paper presents results from in-situ CT bending tests on small GFRP-reinforced concrete beams, using a custom setup for CT under load. Crack propagation across load stages is analyzed, supported by comparisons with analytical models. Future test concepts for CT are also proposed.
