Stellenbeschreibung |
The Wireless Communications and Radio Positioning (WICON) research group at RPTU Kaiserslautern is currently accepting applications for a Master Thesis. The development of xApps (Application Functions) on a Near Real-Time (RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) involves creating software applications that leverage the capabilities of the RIC in the context of telecommunications and wireless networks. This Master Thesis focuses on the development of xApps and their security for a Near Real-Time RAN In- telligent Controller by using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, a key component in modern telecommunications networks. The RAN Intelligent Controller plays a crucial role in optimizing and managing the Radio Access Network (RAN), enhancing the overall per- formance and efficiency of wireless communication systems. However, it has not been thoroughly explored in the existing literature. The student will begin by gaining practical experience in developing xApps for near RT RIC, contributing to cutting-edge research in the field. They will then identify potential security challenges and vulnerabilities specific to the xApps and near RT RIC interface and analyze their impact on the overall network. The thesis will also involve proposing and evaluating potential security measures to mitigate these vulnerabilities. The student will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context, potentially contributing to the development of more secure O-RAN networks. |
