Corona-Update from the Crisis Team, Week 40

Dear members and affiliates of the University,

In view of the start of the lecture period, we would like to inform you about the current situation at our university regarding the Corona pandemic.

+++ REGULATORY SITUATION AT THE UNIVERSITY

The current legal framework for infection control does not provide for any specific protective measures for the university sector. The teaching, examination and service operations as well as the holding of special events at the TU Kaiserslautern are not subject to any restrictions. Likewise, there is no obligation to test.

However, we expressly recommend wearing a mouth-nose protection in all indoor rooms - especially if the distance is less than 1.5 metres or in case of longer gatherings of people. In order to prevent infections, the wearing of FFP2 masks in particular has so far proven to be one of the most effective measures to protect one's own health and that of fellow human beings.

Should the general infection situation worsen drastically (incl. the overburdening of the health system) and the legal situation change, we will adapt the measures at the university accordingly.

For general health protection, the university management continues to appeal to all students and employees to protect their own health as well as that of their fellow human beings through prudent behaviour. In the event of corona-specific symptoms, it is recommended that you do not visit the campus until the cause has been further clarified, e.g. by your family doctor.

+++ INFECTION FIGURES AT THE TUK

Nine new index cases were reported at TUK last week. You can see the development of the numbers at https://www.uni-kl.de/coronavirus. If you receive a positive test, we urge you to register in the reporting portal at https://onlinemeldung.uni-kl.de/login. This is the only way we can keep track of the incidence of infection and initiate appropriate measures to protect against infection.
