Weekly Corona Update from the Crisis Team , Week 13
Dear members and affiliates of the University,
In the following we inform you about the current situation of our university in the Corona pandemic.
+ Infection figures at TUK
Since last week, one new index case and two new suspected cases have been reported at TUK. You can also view the current trends in the numbers on our website. To those individuals who have contracted Covid-19, we wish you a speedy and complete recovery.
If you receive a positive test or are contacted as a suspected case, we urge you to register in the reporting portal at onlinemeldung.uni-kl.de/login. This is the only way we can keep track of the number of cases. This is the only way we can maintain an overview of the infection situation and initiate appropriate measures to protect against infection.
+ More safety through modified mask requirement: MNB becomes MNS
In view of the current critical pandemic development, the crisis management team, with the involvement of the staff council, has decided to make the wearing of medical mouth-nose protection - MNS (OP masks or FFP2 masks) mandatory instead of simple mouth-nose protection (MNB) in order to increase health protection on campus. The Corona guideline of the TUK (https://www.uni-kl.de/fileadmin/ha-z/Corona/Corona_Richtlinien_20210401_.pdf), the "Hygiene concept of the TUK" (https://www.uni-kl.de/fileadmin/ha-z/PDF/Hygienekonzept_20210401.pdf) as well as the "Handreichung zu Veranstaltungen in Präsenz" (Link) have been adapted accordingly. This means that, with immediate effect, the wearing of an MNS is obligatory in all presence events, service meetings, committee meetings and generally on all routes within buildings. This also applies if persons can prove a negative corona test or if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained.
+ Summer semester takes place predominantly digitally
Nationwide, the number of new infections is on the rise, as is the proportion of virus mutations in the total infection incidence (increase from 72.3 percent in the previous week to 88 percent). As a result, the crisis team has decided that most teaching in the summer semester will take place digitally. Exceptions apply only to courses that absolutely require attendance, such as laboratory practicals. Exceptions also apply to individual courses whose presence is of particular importance for certain student groups from the perspective of the departments, especially for first- and second-semester students., The departments decide independently on the necessary exceptions. Apart from these exceptions, the summer semester 2021 should be digitally studyable.
