About the authors

Christian Sterzing is a lawyer, social pedagogue, publicist and author. From 2004 to 2009, he was head of the Arab Middle East office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Ramallah. Previously, he was a member of the German Bundestag, a member of the European Parliament and spokesman for the state executive of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Rhineland-Palatinate. He has written numerous articles in books and magazines. His most recent publication is "A Brief History of the Middle East Conflict".

From January to April 2019, both took part in the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) as human rights observers. With their international teams in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, they observed events at checkpoints, accompanied Palestinian children on their way to school and documented house demolitions in cooperation with Israeli, Palestinian and international peace and human rights initiatives.
