New nuclear arms race in Rhineland-Palatinate too?

The nuclear powers are arming themselves worldwide. A nuclear war seems more likely than it has been for a long time. This has concrete consequences for Rhineland-Palatinate: the last US nuclear weapons in Germany are stationed here - in Büchel in the Eifel region.

In 2019, the state parliament in Mainz passed a resolution in favor of the goal of a world without nuclear weapons and declared its support for the UN ban on nuclear weapons.

What do the parties say about this issue today? Where do they stand on nuclear deterrence and the demand for a nuclear-free Rhineland-Palatinate?

We want to discuss this on a broad panel with:

  • Patric Müller - MdL, SPD
  • Stefan Thoma - MdL, FDP
  • Dr. Lea Heidbreder - Member of Parliament, B90/The Greens
  • Andreas Hartenfels - MdL, BSW
  • Ari Arnold - The Left
  • Erwin Stufler - Free Voters
