Peace Academy at the "Market of Opportunities" at #weitergedenken 2025

The Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate will be represented on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the
"Market of Opportunities" of the event #weitergedenken in the state parliament
Rhineland-Palatinate. From 13:00 to 15:45, Annalena Groppe,
research associate in the research focus on peace education, will present
peace education approaches to dealing with polarizing
conflicts of interpretation on the history of democracy.

The focus will be on dealing with controversial memory at
Hambach Castle. The stand invites visitors to discuss educational approaches,
which strengthen democratic values, recognize diversity of perspectives and address
tensions in debates on the culture of remembrance.

The event #weitergedenken is dedicated to the topic of "Creative formats in
remembrance work and democracy education" and will take place on 12 May 2025 from 13:00 to
approx. 18:00 in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. It offers a platform
for exchange between initiatives, associations and institutions. The aim
is to link modern commemorative work with democracy education and to show
how historical events can actively counteract
forgetting in the present.
