"Ready to talk: Fresh impetus for global engagement with ELAN!"

The world is changing and there is a great need for discussion on many topics. That's why the digital series "Ready to talk: Fresh impetus for global engagement with ELAN" is entering its 4th round in 2026 with a highly topical program and exciting guests.

Samantha Ruppel, research associate at the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate, will give the impulse on the topic "New strategy of the BMZ - between global responsibility and geopolitical reality ":

International development cooperation is in a state of flux: global crises, increasing geopolitical tensions and changing power relations are shaping international cooperation more strongly than just a few years ago. Multilateral approaches are coming under pressure, while the strategic interests of states are once again coming to the fore. Against this backdrop,
Germany is also realigning its development cooperation. In this event, we will take a look at the current strategy of German development cooperation and discuss how it fits into current international developments. What are the BMZ's priorities? What political and geopolitical conditions shape cooperation? And: What prospects does this offer for the future of development cooperation - including for actors in Rhineland-Palatinate?
