In February, Dr. Anne Hennings travelled to Mauritania. Located in the west of the Sahel region, the country is severely affected by climate change. Among other things, Anne Hennings looked at how communities on the border with Algeria, Western Sahara and Mali are jointly managing scarce resources and resolving conflicts. Various adaptation strategies are also currently being implemented. These include the introduction of new fodder plants along the grazing routes, the consideration of pastoral needs in development projects, the strengthening of the pastoral code through awareness campaigns and the further development of water-saving irrigation methods in the oases.
