Differences between the demonstrations after the homicides in Kandel and Mainz

According to conflict researcher Schilling, the size of the city plays a key role in the number of demonstrators. "Because the local population in Kandel is smaller than in Mainz, for example, right-wing groups may receive greater recognition in Kandel," says Schilling. "In Mainz, you have a completely different potential of counter-demonstrators." The following applies to both Mainz and Kandel: "The demonstrations are used as an opportunity to make a blanket accusation against politics."
