In cooperation with the Protestant Academy of the Palatinate and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Center for Political Education, the Peace Academy co-hosted the event "The Palatinate and the World" on 24 and 25 January. The topic was European and global relations and, in particular, the impetus for peace and understanding that has historically emanated and continues to emanate from the Palatinate; the occasion was the centenary of the Association for Palatinate Church History. Over the two days, a total of 18 speakers from seven countries contributed to illuminating these references in all their diversity. The Peace Academy was involved in two formats in particular: Firstly, a lecture on peace policy approaches in the southwest German democracy movement of the first half of the 19th century by Thomas Handrich and, secondly, a panel discussion on the future of civil society and church peace engagement in times of global crises. The Managing Director of the Peace Academy, Dr. Gregor Walter-Drop, acted as moderator; the contributors were Prof. Dr. Dr. Martin Rothkegel from the Theological University of Elsthal, Dr. Lucia Fuchs from the Rhineland-Palatinate Development Policy Network (ELAN), Dr. Steffen Hagemann from the RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) and Rev. Christoph Krauth from the Missionary Economic Service (MÖD).
