Prof. Dr. Siegmar Schmidt has been Professor of Political Science at the University of Koblenz-Landau since 1999 (since 2023: RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau) and has been Head of the Department of Political Science at the university's Institute of Social Science since 2017. There, he holds the Chair of "Analysis and Comparison of Political Systems and International Politics". He is also Scientific Director of the Frank Loeb Institute. His research focuses on German foreign policy, the foreign policy of Western states, comparison and analysis of political systems, European integration and foreign policy, the Third World and Africa.
