Service Center and Departments

The administration of our university is located in Building 47. At the top in the twelfth floor are the President, the Vice Presidents for Research and Academic Affairs and the Chancellor – i.e. the Head of Administration. The press office, the personnel department, the BAföG office, the examination office, the company doctor, the student service center and the lost property office are located on the lower floors. The most important departments located in Building 47 are explained below.

 

THE STUDENT SERVICE CENTER – SSC

"What do I do if I don't pass an exam?", "Which seminars do I have to attend?"

The SSC answers all your questions about your studies. The SSC will also give you the name of the appropriate contact persons. If you would like advice on the topic "studying as a parent", the Student Service Center is also the right place to seek for help.

The Student Service Center is located on the grouns floor in building 47. You can also ask your questions by phone under +49 631 - 205 5252. The current opening hours can be found on the website of SSC.

 

EXAMINATION OFFICE

If you want to write an examination at the university, you have to register for it.
Where? At the Examination Office: Building 47 - fourth floor.

The first registration takes place personally at the Examination Office.

A completed registration form is to be brought along for registration. The corresponding forms can be found under "registration forms".

From the second semester onwards, you can register all examinations via QIS.

Please note: If you are not yet of legal age, you have to bring a parent or legal guardian with you to register for your first examination.

 

BAFÖG AND SCHOLARSHIPS DEPARTMENT

BAföG – this stands for Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (Federal Training Assistance Act) and is intended to provide to students state financial support for the period of Training.

You can apply for BAföG if

  • your income and assets, and
  • the income of your spouse, registered civil partner or your parents are not sufficient to cover your needs.

Under the Federal Training Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz), the state is obliged to provide every person the possibility to receive training that corresponds to his or her interests, capabilities and skills.
