The Center for Interdisciplinary Disaster Research is an association of research groups in the field of disaster research at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. The aim is to utilize the potential of interdisciplinary research between technology, economics and education. Our specific expertise covers the following areas:

2nd specialist congress "Research for civil protection"
The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) organized a specialist congress "Research for Civil Protection" for the second time since 2023. Around 900 participants from the civil protection and disaster relief sectors attended the World Conference Center in Bonn from February 5 to 7, 2025. The high attendance also shows the increasing interest in research in this area. The latest research findings from the fields of technology, medicine and social sciences were presented in over 50 sessions.
Sophie Lacher and Prof. Dr. Matthias Rohs presented the latest results from the PREP project. The content included current findings on learning and information resources on the Internet on the subject of emergency preparedness. The full results will be published once the project has been completed.
