Workshop: "Presenting Research Results"

This workshop is offered in cooperation with the Leistungszentrum Simulations- und Software-basierte Innovation.

When and where?

24.06. and 01.07.2024 - 9am – 5pm

Location: 58-211 / IVW Campus Kaiserslautern

The arrangement of breaks will be agreed with the participants in the course.

What it is about? 

The aim of the workshop: is to improve the ability to give presentations of research results at conferences (in English). The necessary communication skills are learned and practiced. 

Input Day 1 
- Designing a "message-based" presentation 
- Designing the beginning of a presentation effectively 
- Communication and rhetoric techniques 
- Useful phrases / structuring and connecting elements 
- Dealing with (difficult) questions in the discussion round (Q&A) 

Practical event Day 2 
The simulation of a conference: Each participant gives a short presentation, leads a discussion 
and receives detailed feedback from the other participants and the trainer. 
The participants have the opportunity to film themselves with their cell phones.

Target group & course language

The seminar is aimed at all young scientists. Participants of the Young Researchers Symposium 2024 giving a talk will be prefered in allocation of places.

Quantity of participants: 12  

Course language is English.

M.A. Applied Foreign Languages (Université Lyon II), Cambridge Certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (CELTA), London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Certificate in Teaching English for Business (CertEb), Intercultural trainer and consultant training, Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg.

The course is open to all PhD students of RPTU as well as to PhD students of the Fraunhofer Institutes IESE and ITWM. Participation is free of charge. Please note the information on the  conditions of participation and registration.
