Weekly Corona Update from the Crisis Team , Week 45

Dear members and affiliates of the university,

In the following we inform you about the current situation at our university in the Corona pandemic.

+ Infection figures at TUK
In the last two weeks, eight new index cases have been reported at TUK. You can also view the development of the numbers on our TUK website at https://www.uni-kl.de/coronavirus. Furthermore, if you receive a positive test or are contacted as a suspected case, we urge you to register in the reporting portal at onlinemeldung.uni-kl.de/login. This is the only way we can maintain an overview of the infection situation and initiate appropriate measures to protect against infection.

+ Two new CovIn STATIONS
As of 8/11/2021, two smaller stations are available to enrich the 3G status of the Intake QR code. One location is the Unisport Service Center in Paul-Ehrlich-Straße, building 28 (sports hall). The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:00. The second location is the Student Service Center (SSC) in Gottlieb-Daimler-Straße, building 47. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:00.

For enrichment you will need an Intake-QR-Code (https://kontaktverfolgung.uni-kl.de/), proof of 3G status (rapid or PCR test, vaccination certificate, convalescent certificate) and an identification document (e.g. ID card). When creating the basic Intake QR code, we ask that you provide complete address and contact information as required by the system. This is the only way we can ensure contact tracking. If you already have an Intake QR code, please complete your address and contact details accordingly.

Once again, we would like to specifically request that all students and faculty enrich their Intake QR code in the manner described (vaccinated, recovered) in order to attend face-to-face classes. Individuals who are neither vaccinated nor recovered must be tested regularly (rapid test) and have their Intake QR code re-enriched after each test. A rapid test is valid on the day of testing and throughout the following day. Self-tests cannot be used in this context according to the current status.

IMPORTANT: If you delete the cookies in your browser, then your generated QR code with your 3G status will also be deleted. Therefore, to be on the safe side, save the QR code in a separate file (PDF or image file) after creation.

The above statements refer to courses. For exams, however, the 3G rule according to CoBeLVO does not apply.

+ Mensa: Contact tracking with Intake
The Student Union will implement contact tracking with the Intake software used at TUK from 15.11.2021. We welcome the uniform approach as well as the common solution for contact tracking and ask all employees who use the Mensa to generate an Intake QR code for themselves. You can create your personal QR code at the following website: https://kontaktverfolgung.uni-kl.de/. Please be sure to include a complete address record (last name, first name, street address, zip code, city, and phone number). More information on contact tracking can be found here: https://www.rhrk.uni-kl.de/kontaktverfolgung. Contact tracking is not required to use Bistro 36.

+ Intake: More than just contact tracking.
Intake, as a building block of our Corona protection concept, includes not only the ability to track contacts, but rather to ensure that all participants in courses meet 3G status. When Intake QR codes are enriched at CovIn STATIONS, there is a visual check of vaccination, recovery and testing records that no longer needs to be performed at the venue itself. In addition, and in order to better assess personal risk, e.g. at the specific seat, it is recommended to use the Corona warning app. The app provides information about the duration and distance at which an encounter took place. With the notification, the affected users* receive clear recommendations for action.

IMPORTANT: If you delete the cookies in your browser, then your generated QR code with your 3G status will also be deleted. Therefore, to be on the safe side, save the QR code in a separate file (PDF or image file) after creation.

+ Mandatory wearing of masks in corridors and foyers
In light of the above, we would like to point out that masks must be worn at all times in all hallways and in the foyers. This is regardless of whether you are traveling or temporarily seated at group tables.

+ Student Learning Tent
The tent on the Unisport grounds behind Building 28 (gymnasium) has been repurposed as a student learning space and will be open Nov. 15, 2021. The opening hours are Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:30. The distance and masking requirement apply in the learning tent. The mask requirement is waived while maintaining the distance requirement at the fixed seating areas.

+ Booster vaccinations at TUK not currently planned
A booster vaccination for employees and students of the TUK is currently not in planning. According to the recommendations of the Standing Commission on Vaccination (STIKO), older and immunocompromised people should be vaccinated as a matter of priority. The examination of the indication and implementation of the vaccination will be carried out by general practitioners and mobile vaccination teams. Employees and students without priority can take up the offer of a vaccination in the vaccination bus - among others on 30.11. at the TUK.

+ Vaccinations in general
In the ongoing planning of "More Presence" in the winter semester, the highest possible percentage of vaccinated individuals is an important factor. Therefore, University leadership welcomes and supports all regional immunization offerings and hopes for extensive use by those individuals who have not yet been immunized.

+ Immunization buses, next offerings.
Several vaccination buses will be traveling through Rhineland-Palatinate through the end of the year. The vaccination buses will be parked in various parking lots of the participating cooperation partners, e.g. a number of supermarkets. Vaccination will take place every working day, no appointment is necessary.

+ Vaccination bus on 30.11.2021 on the campus of TUK
On Nov. 30, an immunization bus will again be located on Paul Ehrlich Street next to Building 28 (University gymnasium) on the TUK campus. The vaccination campaign, according to current plans, will take place in the tent on the grounds of the Unisport. Detailed information will follow in time for the event. Another stop is planned in December.

+ Testing opportunity on campus
A testing center has been available in 46/224 since Monday, October 18. From 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., DRK employees conduct quick tests there Monday through Friday in the proven manner. One test costs 15 euros. There are a few exceptions under which the cost of a test will continue to be covered by the federal government until December 31, 2021, e.g. for

- Individuals vaccinated with a vaccine not approved in the EU, e.g. international students at TUK.

- Individuals who cannot or could not be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Evidence must be presented at the time of testing.

Detailed information on this, especially in § 4a, can be found at: https://www.bundesanzeiger.de/pub/publication/EaknuyebqGE4JSI7pwk/content/EaknuyebqGE4JSI7pwk/BAnz%20AT%2021.09.2021%20V1.pdf?inline.

English Information

+ Vaccination Bus will come to TUK campus on 11/30/2021.
The Vaccination Bus will be coming to the TUK campus on Nov. 30 for another immunization drive. According to the latest plans, the vaccination bus will be located in the Paul-Ehrlich-Straße near to building 28 (university sports hall). A team of the DRK will carry out the vaccinations from 8 am to 4 pm in the tent.

+ Vaccination of persons vaccinated with a vaccine not approved in the EU.
The Permanent Vaccination Commission of the Federal Government (STIKO) recommends adult persons who have been vaccinated with a vaccine that has not been approved in the EU to date to receive a new vaccination series with an EU-approved vaccine. The STIKO points out that this might lead to stronger vaccination reactions. Only with such an additional vaccination, the EU "vaccinated" status can be received. This note applies in particular to international students and visiting scientists at TUK. Re-vaccination can be done, for example, in the vaccination bus that will come to TUK on 11/30/2021.
