reflecting stereotypes - acting gender sensitive

Gender is identity-forming for most people. It influences how we portray ourselves and how we are perceived. It also influences how we perceive others and what assumptions we make about them - even when we classify our (own) gender as insignificant in the context of study or work. Gender plays an essential role in everyday interactions - and thus also at the university as a whole and specifically in teaching-learning situations. Preconceptions about others (or the image of how they should be) are often unconsciously reproduced in these interactions. A first important step for change is to reflect the concrete meaning of gender in our everyday lives.

In our workshops, tutors and interested students learn to recognize and question unconscious behaviors and assumptions. Based on this, students develop the competence to design teaching and learning situations in a gender-sensitive way and to promote a diversity-sensitive atmosphere.

The workshops are open for all students at RPTU, regardless of their gender. Preference will be given to those who work as tutors.

Students can register for single or multiple workshops. It is possible to get into the topic in any workshop without prior knowledge. The workshops will be held in German.
