Holiday childcare

The children's holiday camps "Uni-Erlebnis für Kids" is organised by the Family Service Office. It offers school children aged 6-12 a varied program on campus.

Unisport organises adventure camps for children of staff and students for different age groups, usually during the Easter and summer holidays. You can register at UNISPORT.

Sportjugend Pfalz, in cooperation with the sports science faculty of RPTU and the city of Kaiserslautern, is organising various sports camps in the last week of the summer holidays. Children's camps are aimed at 9-11 year olds and sports camps at 12-15 year olds. You can register at Sportjugend Pfalz.

Note: the program is primarily aimed at student and staff families of the university; external children can only be admitted in exceptional cases. Some primary schools in the city of Kaiserslautern or in the district of Kaiserslautern as well as church sponsors, Landesforsten [state forests] Rhineland-Palatinate, the Kinderschutzbund and others also offer camps during holidays. In addition, there is the Rhineland-Palatinate holiday platform: www.ferienboerse-rlp.de

Attention:  Reservations can be made right away for the rest of the year. Due to higher expenses, especially in the canteen and for childcare staff, we have adjusted our parental fees by €10 in 2024; we hope for your understanding.

Holiday planning is usually difficult for students and working parents of schoolchildren (six to twelve years old). They encounter a childcare problem outside school hours, as children have more than twice as many holidays as working parents; and student parents often cannot combine seminars, internships, exams, jobs, etc. with childcare during school holidays.
In order to help overcome this, attractive activities are offered during the Easter, pentecost, summer and autumn holidays. 5 weeks a year we organise varied camps. They feature exciting, child-friendly workshops in the natural sciences and technology faculties. In addition, children engage in sporting activities. They go to the forest playground and explore the university. But also games (inside and outside) and handicrafts do not get a raw deal. The highlight of the week is usually the full day excursion. In the forest the children have a colourful construction trailer of RPTU at their disposal.

In order to meet the different temporal care needs of parents, RPTU offers full-day programs from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., as well as morning programs from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. On Fridays, camps close at 2 p.m.

The children, who attend the program until 1.30 p.m. or 4.30 p.m. will have snacks; drinks, fruit and vegetables will be offered during the day. Also the children visit the Mensa for a warm meal; unless annouced differently. For day trips, children are provided with packed lunches from the cafeteria.

Experienced University students and babysitters take care of the children, some of whom participated in the DRK course “Fit for Babysitting.”
