Why does this offer exist for women?
The seminar series "Studying successfully - shaping the future!" as well as mentoring for first-year students and group mentoring are measures to promote women. It is stipulated that only female students may take part in these measures.
Why are women specifically promoted?
There are more men than women at technical universities in particular - the higher the status group, the fewer women there are. One of the aims is therefore to encourage women to continue their studies even if there are problems. There is no question that there are also men who have such problems. However, it is not just about remedying students' deficits. Rather, the projects are about countering the disadvantages women face because they choose subjects in which they are underrepresented. It is not a matter of course to take such a path. Even if women are welcomed with open arms, self-doubt arises more quickly in contrast to people for whom such a choice of subject is more 'normal'. This is certainly not the case for all women. But those who need help are welcome to take advantage of our offers.
With the seminars, we want to support female students in acquiring interdisciplinary skills that can help them in their private lives, during their studies and later in their careers. In this way, we want to ensure that fewer female students drop out of their studies at RPTU in Kaiserslautern and successfully complete them instead.
We are well aware that there are also men who would like to take part in one seminar or another. We would like to draw their attention to the wide range of seminars and workshops offered by various departments for female and male students.
