Two student assistants at the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate

The Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate at the University of Koblenz-Landau is looking for two student assistants with a Bachelor's degree at the Landau campus to work on a third-party funded project and the main areas of work of the Peace Academy.

The main areas of work are environmental and resource conflicts, crisis prevention and civil conflict management, civil society participation and involvement as well as peace education. In addition to research on these topics, the aim of the Peace Academy RLP is to support peace research activities in the state and at the University of Koblenz-Landau. Your main tasks:

a) Student assistant in the research project (10h/week)

Support with the

  • content-related and organizational implementation of a research project ("Tug of War - Customary and State Actors in Land Reform and their Impact on Human Security in Post-Conflict Societies")
  • Literature research and preparation of publications (research work, proofreading, bibliography and formatting tasks)
  • Supervision of social media channels, preferably the blog
  • Data management (transcription)

 

b) Student assistant for general support of the Peace Academy RLP (10h/week)

Support with the

  • Public relations and networking work of the Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate
  • Co-supervision of the social media channels(Twitter, Facebook, blog, podcast)
  • Planning, preparation and implementation of public events
  • Preparation of research projects and publications of the team (research work, proofreading, bibliography and formatting tasks)

Your profile:

  • You have a good or even very good Bachelor's degree, preferably in political science, peace and conflict studies, sociology, ethnology, geography or a related social science, economics or humanities degree program with a recognizable focus on peace and conflict studies.
  • You have a very good command of written and spoken English and German;
  • You are used to working in a team and independently;
  • You are highly precise, systematic and reliable;
  • You are familiar with common software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • You are social media-savvy and have experience in using social media for public relations work
  • You have knowledge and interest in a) the topics of the project (land reform, customary authorities e.g. chiefs, and/or dynamics in post-conflict societies) or b) the main topics of the Peace Academy;
  • You are willing to come to Landau for individual appointments or, ideally, on a regular basis.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program at a German university. Unfortunately, students who already hold a Master's degree cannot be considered.

 

Date of appointment: 01.09.2022

Contract duration: initially three months, an extension of up to 24 months (project duration) is sought
Working hours: 10 hours per week
