The “International Conference on Land Governance and Future Challenges” took place in Landau from June 4 to June 5. The conference was organized by Dr. Anne Hennings, Christopher Rohles, and Majbrit Hüttenhein as part of the project “Tug of War—Customary and State Actors in Land Reform and Their Impact on Human Security in Post-Conflict Societies” at the Peace Academy in the Palatinate region, University of Kaiserslautern-Landau.

We welcomed 35 panelists and participants from four continents to discuss changes in land governance with a special focus on sustainability and climate change, inclusivity and gender equality, land contestation, and related current and future challenges. The conference began with a keynote speech by Katharina Löhr (Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Müncheberg, Germany) and continued with lively discussions following engaging presentations. The conference provided opportunities for exchange on critical research regarding land governance issues and brought together diverse geographical contexts and methodological approaches.
