The Center for Interdisciplinary Disaster Research is an association of research groups in the field of disaster research at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. The aim is to utilize the potential of interdisciplinary research between technology, economics and education. Our specific expertise covers the following areas:

Learning from the bushfires in Australia
The summer of 2019/20 went down in history as Black Summer in Australia. Severe bushfires put a strain on the fire departments there and pushed them to their limits. Many places were in a state of emergency. Two documentaries dealt with the subject. Kaiserslautern junior professor Dr. Anja Danner-Schröder analyzed both as part of a study and investigated which routine procedures were used by the Australian firefighters. The expert advises local emergency services to deal with such scenarios as a matter of urgency, and to start thinking about them during their training.
