2nd CIDR Talk: What can the population do in the event of a disaster?

Comprehensive civil protection and disaster control is not possible without the cooperation of the population. Preparation in terms of food and water reserves, but also alternative heating and cooking options, are just as important as knowledge of the correct behavior in the event of terrorism, chemical accidents, fires or medical emergencies. The knowledge and skills of the population are not only an important basis for self-protection in the event of disasters, but are also seen as an effective deterrent in the context of hybrid hazard situations.

This raises the question of how well prepared the population is in the event of a disaster. The CIDR Talk will provide an overview of the current state of research and present the results of a recent population survey from the PREP[1] project. This reveals surprising results with regard to individual skills and how these are developed in individual population groups in terms of age, gender and level of education.

On this basis, we would like to discuss with you what the population should be able to do and how suitable information and learning opportunities should be designed for this.

Participation in the event is free of charge.

Date: 26.02.25, 16:30 (online). Participation is free of charge. For better planning and sending of the Zoom link, pleaseregister with Sophie Lacher(sophie.lacher[at]rptu.de).
