About the authors

Humanitarian aid worker, lecturer and trainer

Stefan Ziegler holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Limerick and a postgraduate diploma in Humanitarian Aid from Fordham University in New York as well as numerous training certificates from the Austrian Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Interpeace and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.

His professional focus is on advocacy and research related to humanitarian aid.

He currently works as a freelance trainer and facilitator.

His field assignments include:

  • Communication training at the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Center in Ghana
  • Design and delivery of training courses for IFRC and UNDP
  • OSCE Mission to Eastern Ukraine (Head of the Regional Reporting Office)
  • Barrier Monitoring Unit, research unit of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the West Bank (Head)
  • Operations Support Officer for the United Nations
  • Sustainability projects in the field of humanitarian aid in Georgia, Abkhazia, Palestine and the Balkan region for the International Committee of the Red Cross

Stefan Ziegler is also an associate trainer of RedR in London, a member of Irish and Swiss Emergency Response Teams and part of the Swiss Expert Pool for Foreign Affairs.
He was previously Strategic Planning Associate at the Irish Peace Institute in Limerick. He is also a guest lecturer at numerous universities and training centers, including EPFL in Lausanne, the Politechnico di Milano, the Geneva School of Diplomacy and the Austrian Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Stadtschlaining.

Stefan Ziegler has published on advocacy issues related to the West Bank for the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and UNRWA, among others.
