Conference on Education for Sustainable Development in Rhineland-Palatinate on April 29 in Kirchheimbolanden
The fifth symposium for sustainable development in Rhineland-Palatinate (ESD symposium) will take place in Kirchheimbolanden on April 29. This year's thematic focus is on the two global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 11 and No. 16:
- 11: Sustainable cities and communities: "Inclusive and sustainable urban planning should be strengthened."
- 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions: "All forms of violence and violence-related mortality everywhere should be significantly reduced."
Annalena Groppe, research associate at the Peace Academy, will be giving a workshop at the conference entitled "Dealing with conflicts - showing civil courage - staying in the conversation" (further information below). In addition to exciting plenary lectures and diverse, productive workshops in the afternoon at the colorful accompanying fair "Market of Opportunities", the conference will once again offer the opportunity to exchange ideas on concrete points of contact and get to know a wide range of committed ESD actors from Rhineland-Palatinate and all over Germany. At the Peace Academy stand, we will be presenting the "Kernfrage" simulation game we developed on German nuclear weapons policy.
Further information on the ESD symposium can be found in the flyer.
Workshop: Dealing with conflicts - showing civil courage - staying in conversation
Political conflicts affect learners of all ages - in families, circles of friends, institutions and in the digital space. How can we discuss polarizing topics, not tacitly normalize violence(s) and at the same time remain in an appreciative dialogue? With the help of peace education methods, we will gain orientation in this field of tension and try out transformative steps based on our own experiences of conflict.
Speaker: Annalena Groppe
