Science Slam at RPTU Landau

Research explained in an easy and entertaining way: RPTU in Landau invites you to a science slam on July 27 at the Gloria Kulturpalast

A science slam will take place on Thursday, July 27, at the Gloria Kulturpalast in Landau. Scientists at RPTU in Landau will give an entertaining insight into their research in just a few minutes - including in the fields of communication psychology, environmental sciences and Catholic theology. Tickets are available for ten euros at the box office. The event starts at 8 pm, admission is from 7 pm. The event is organized by the Center for Cultural and Knowledge Dialogue (ZKW) and the Center for Graduate Support and Academic Personnel Development (ZGAPL) at RPTU in Landau.

The Science Slam event format has been around since 2006, when it was first held in Darmstadt. Since then, the format has spread worldwide and is particularly popular with young adults.

A science slam consists of a series of short presentations, each lasting five to ten minutes, designed to appeal to a wide audience. The speakers must
present their research project in such a way that it is understandable and interesting for laypeople.

This often involves humorous, interactive or unusual approaches. After each presentation, an open question and answer session gives the audience the opportunity to clarify any ambiguities and take away food for thought. The Science Slam at RPTU thus not only offers a platform for scientific exchange, but also an opportunity to stimulate interest in scientific topics and inform the public about current research findings.

Taking part in the Science Slam at the Gloria Kulturpalast are: Clara Christner (Institute for Communication Psychology and Media Education), Dominik Vollbracht (Center for Methods, Diagnostics and Evaluation), Jun. Prof. Dr. Janpeter Schilling (Institute for Environmental Sciences, Peace Academy Rhineland-Palatinate), Veronika Barkela (Institute for Education in Childhood and Adolescence) and Dr. Bettina Reichmann (Institute for Catholic Theology). The evening will be moderated and chaired by Nikolas Anslinger and Rosa Arato (ZKW).
