The German Geographical Society and the Institutes of Human Geography and Physical Geography at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invite you to the 62nd German Geographical Congress (DKG ) in Frankfurt from September 19 to 23, 2023.

Drylands, which cover more than a third of the continental area, differ greatly in terms of their natural environment, their geopolitical situation, their socio-economic situation and the changes to be expected in the course of climate change. Using selected drylands as examples, the session will take a differentiated and interdisciplinary look at various methods and topics. As part of the session "The future of drylands: Diverging natural areas, utilization and development potentials (AK Wüstenrandforschung)", Janpeter Schilling will give his presentation on "Old and new risks: Impacts of political marginalization, climate change, violent conflict, conservation areas and energy projects on mobile pastoralist groups in northern Kenya".
