Equality at RPTU

Gender equality is structurally anchored at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). The equality measures are based on the objectives set out in the equality plan.

The "Committee bonus for female professors and academic staff" program is earmarked funding for gender equality. At RPTU, equality means promoting women in academia, as women are underrepresented at all academic career levels. Our Higher Education Act also requires gender parity in the composition of university committees, which can lead to a particularly heavy burden for women.

The Executive Board at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau would therefore like to value the committee work of female professors and academic staff. To this end, a one-off bonus in the form of personnel and material resources will be awarded in 2025 via a simple application process. The Executive Board is providing funds of up to 32,000 euros for this purpose. The experience gained from this project will be incorporated into the application for the Female Professors Program.

The committee bonus can be applied for by emailing the application form to the Vice President responsible for Equal Opportunities and Diversity (email: vp-lehreld-sekretariat[at]rptu.de). All female professors, junior professors and research assistants at RPTU are eligible to apply. Visiting professors are excluded. Professors and research assistants whose identity does not correspond to the standardized gender identities, e.g. transgender, transsex, intersex, agender, are also addressed. Persons with positions who are already receiving a reduction in teaching load or personnel support to ease the workload are not eligible to apply.

The application should include a list of the committees on which the applicant was a member, broken down for the winter semester 2024/25 and the summer semester 2024. The role in the respective committee (e.g. member, deputy member or chair) must also be stated. The application must include a declaration that no reduction in the level of deputation or staff support has yet been granted for the specified committees. Where applicable, reference can be made to special circumstances, such as caring for children or relatives in need of care, a disability or mental impairment and any resulting special support requirements from the Family Service.

All applications received by 15 May 2025 will be considered. The number of female professors and academics receiving funding has not yet been determined. The bonus will be awarded on a weighted basis based on the above information. You will receive information about the funding and the amount around mid-July 2025. You will be awarded a budget that you can use until the end of 2026 within the framework of budgetary regulations.
