Teaching

The teaching activities of the IFG are currently carried out by the research units Communication Psychology (Prof. M. Maier) and Soil Chemistry (Prof. G.E. Schaumann).

Modul M1 IFG - Scientific inter- and transdisciplinary work and research 1

This module is divided into two seminars. The first part takes place in the winter semester and the second in the summer semester. The students receive an introduction to multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work. They discuss the evaluation of interdisciplinary research projects and the strengthening of their own skills through cooperation in interdisciplinary teams. The students develop competencies for the integration of disciplines with regard to the design of transformation processes and sustainable developments. In the second part of the module, students go through an exemplary research process in small groups in the field of environmental and sustainability research and develop their own interdisciplinary research question. They learn to deal with the challenges and difficulties of interdisciplinary research.

Supervision of Case Studies

Based on the theoretical and methodological foundations of inter- and transdisciplinary research, the students formulate a relevant research question in small groups and under supervision where they develop a research plan and carry out their own study. Current topics of social relevance can be taken up.

Supervision of Theses

In the form of interdisciplinary joint work or the processing of a disciplinary question in an interdisciplinary context, the processing of an independently developed question takes place; optionally, tandems can be formed for processing (students from two different core subjects join together).

Interdisciplinary colloquia

Regular interdisciplinary colloquiums are held. Here students can present their case studies and bachelor theses. External guests are also invited to present and show new perspectives on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary sustainability research.
