Urgent message: Paypal fraud attempts

Fraud attempts via telephone from allegedly Paypal

An employee of the RHRZ has just said:

"Just received a call (private) with a tape message, allegedly from Paypal. There would be an outstanding payment with amount x. You are asked to press buttons to prevent/allow. Behind this is a scam: https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/DE/Vportal/TK/Aerger/Aktuelles/Hinweise_aktuell/AktHinw2023/PayPal.html

As you should warn friends, relatives, acquaintances, etc., please be vigilant and pass on the information."

Countermeasures:

  • End the call.

  • Ignore the request to press a button.

  • Never share personal data! Any information can help the perpetrators in future abuses!
