Our employee Christopher Rohles took part in a Pro Peace training course from April 17 to 20. Among other things, the Academy for Conflict Transformation trains specialists in professional peace and conflict work. The seminar entitled "Environment, People and Conflict", led by Rebecca Farnum, dealt with the connections between the environment and conflicts, which have become increasingly apparent in recent years. Climate change, for example, is a "threat multiplier" that puts pressure on fragile government structures or ecosystems that are essential for people's livelihoods. It has become essential to understand and address these interrelationships. The training offered systematic approaches to analyzing the interactions between the environment and conflicts in order to find sustainable solutions. Our relationship with nature, its exploitation, planetary boundaries, environmental justice and the colonial legacy in dealing with nature were also addressed. The diverse backgrounds of the seminar participants from Cambodia, the Philippines, South Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Bolivia, Colombia, the USA and Germany were particularly enriching.
