WERA's  Workshop “Process Analysis in Wastewater Treatment – Sensors and Actuators in a Stirring Vessel”

RPTU Kaiserslautern- Landau

February 27, 2026

As part of the WERA Graduate School, a workshop entitled “Process Analysis in Wastewater Treatment – Sensors and Actuators in a Stirring Vessel” was successfully conducted. The workshop focused on the fundamental question of how industrial and environmental processes can be monitored and controlled effectively. Participants gained practical insights into the operation of sensors and actuators, including how measurement signals are acquired and how actuators are controlled. A particular emphasis was placed on the interface between field devices and the laboratory computer, which plays a crucial role in process automation. The computer serves as the central platform for implementing control strategies and storing measurement data, enabling efficient process monitoring and analysis. The doctoral students performed practical tasks on an experimental setup. Another topic covered in the workshop was the technical implementation of measurement, control, and regulation technology at WERA's pilot plant.
