Central contribution to the profile building of the RPTU

At the RPTU as well as in the institutes DFKI, IESE, ITWM, focal points have already been formed in the past which are associated with our university in the national and international research context. These include AmbientSystems (AmSys), high-performance constructions and multifunctional components in the building industry (HiPerCon, Multi-F), commercial vehicle technology (ZNT) as well as digitalization and artificial intelligence (DFKI, IESE, ITWM). In addition, the acquisition of the DFG's large-scale computer tomography initiative has made it possible to bring a globally unique experimental facility to the RPTU, which provides a highly precise view of the interior of components in realistic stress situations.

The integration and combination of competences from these focal points, initiatives and institutes as well as other individual expertise available at the RPTU will now open up the new research field of the construction site of the future and develop it into a new focal point of engineering research at the RPTU.

This new networking itself represents a very significant contribution to structural development. The potential area will make the interdisciplinary cooperation in engineering research at the RPTU in an innovative research field visible and targeted to the outside world. In further stages of development, interdisciplinary cooperative and coordinated projects will be initiated and research results achieved that will strengthen and expand the RPTU's position as a centre of top-level research in the engineering sciences.

The already achieved extraordinary positioning of the RPTU in the field of digitization and industry 4.0 will be intensified by the planned adaptation and transfer to the construction industry and extended to another sustainable field of activity.
