UniGR student status
The UniGR student status allows students to benefit from numerous advantages of the University of the Greater Region and to study and live in an international and interdisciplinary way. Students of RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau may use the UniGR student status to enrol at one or more of the partner universities (Liège, Luxembourg, Lorraine, Saarland University, Trier as well as htw saar), where they can attend lectures and sit exams, transfer up to 10 ECTS per semester for their study course at their home university, borrow books for free or use the cafeterias at reduced rates. There are no enrolment fees. It is thus very easy to gather intercultural experiences and become familiar with and help shape the different methods of teaching, learning and research at the partner universities in the neighbouring countries and states.
Please note: To ensure that the credits obtained at the partner university will be recognized at Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau it is advised to sign a learning agreement.
Enrolment in the UniGR student status
At RPTU
1. Choose a course you would like to attend
(In Kaiserslautern: Course Catalogue KIS; in Landau: Course Catalogue KLIPS)
2. Contact the lecturer and ask whether it is possible for you to participate in the selected course.

3. Register in the application portal
(You can find instructions here.)
4. In the application portal, select the following options:
- Under Degree type: choose Bachelor’s and Diploma degree programmes or Master’s degree programmes (on campus)
- Under Location: choose Kaiserslautern
- Under Degree: choose Studies within the framework of the University of the Greater Region (UniGR)
- Under Subject: choose Course achievements within the framework of the University of the Greater Region in a Bachelor’s degree (without degree, Kaiserslautern)
- Under Semester: enter 1st semester, even if it is not actually your first semester.
In the next steps of the portal, you will need to:
- Provide information about your university entrance qualification (HZB) and upload the relevant document
- Indicate your home university and upload your certificate of enrolment
- State the subject you would like to take at RPTU
If applicable, you will also be asked to provide information about your first university degree, and you must upload your degree certificate and diploma.
Alternatively, you may upload a current transcript of records and submit the final documents later.
In the final step, you must confirm your details and submit the application.
You will receive a confirmation of receipt by email.

5. Upon admission, you will receive a payment request for the student ID card (€10) and the Germany semester ticket.
You will be enrolled with the status of “guest student” (Nebenhörer*in).
6. If you wish to have the selected course recognized for your studies at your home university, please complete the UniGR Learning Agreement.
Please note the application deadlines for the winter semester (September 15 of each year) and the summer semester (February 28/29) of each year).
Semester Ticket as of Winter Semester 2025/26
- Campus Kaiserslautern: Students are required to purchase a Deutschland-Ticket as their semester ticket. The student ID card is no longer valid as a travel pass. The ticket is available via app or as a chip card from the Rhein-Neckar Transport Association (VRN). Exemptions are only possible in case of a study-related stay abroad of more than three months.
- Campus Landau: No semester ticket is provided. This is based on a resolution of the student body.

The enrolment process can be slightly different at each partner university. Students of RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau who would like to be registered as an UniGR student at one of the partner universities can find the relevant information at: UniGR Student | uni-gr.eu.
