Estimation of Tribological Losses in Power Trains of Mo-bile Working Machines in Consideration of Different Load Cases - in the context of “ERMA – Energy and Resource Efficient Mobile Working Machines”
In context of the research project “ERMA – Energy and Resource Efficient Mobile Working Machines” the Institute of Machine Elements, Gears, and Transmissions is analyzing the friction losses of a wheeled excavator. This paper focuses on the analysis of the power train. It gives a review of the components of a typical powertrain for wheeled excavators, their buildup and the methods to estimate their losses. Furthermore operation scenarios are presented and the calculated power losses for the powertrain are introduced. Additionally the paper introduces options to optimize the transfer gearbox of the excavator and indicates first results of those optimizations.
