Training School (2.3)

The 7th Training School was all about policy options and EU funding place. It took place in the beginning of October in scenic Luxembourg, organised by the partner institution Spatial Foresight. For three days the young researcher ESRs hat the opportunity to meet and discuss with several experts on policy making, including ESPON (European Grouping on Territorial Cooperation), the European Investment Bank and the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning in Luxembourg. The researchers discussed with European policy-makers and -advisers about the complexity of policy process, and worked to essentialise their paradigm-changing research on shrinking cities into actionable policy recommendations. The doctoral candidates received robust training throughout the project to complement their academic achievements with industry-oriented and applied knowledge. Tom Becker, Sandra Spule and Sebastian Hans shared their experiences in Research & local decision-making in Europe in a panel discussion.
One afternoon, the ESRs had a presentation and a (virutal) visit about the Kirchberg neighbourhood. The presentation hold at the Kirchberg Fundations, aims at introduce the important development of the neighbourhood in Luxembourg and recent projects to foster residential development. It was rich day of exchanges.
