The research workshop at École Normale Supérieure, Paris, aimed at shaping the RE-CITY context and concepts. It showcased conceptual presentations, lectures, and a field trip to the city Le Havre. Keynote lectures by Ivonne Audirac (University of Texas at Arlington, USA), Tetsuji Uemura (Nomura Research Institute/Tokyo, Japan), Sergio Moraes (University of Santa Catarina/ Sao Paulo, Brazil), and Maja Rocak (NEIMED/Heerlen, The Netherlands) presented state of the art research and cutting edge methodological questions.

This event was the first project meeting where ESRs & participants gathered in team building events, and discussed their projects. The event facilitated profound team building, and a broad promotion of the project.

The field trip to Le Havre, guided by post-doctoral student at ENS, Sarah Dubeaux, exposed scholars to the problems and solutions of a shrinking city. This comprised on site visits and vibrant discussions with key staff of the Agence d'Urbanisme de la Région du Havre et de l'Estuaire de la Seine, Directeur Général Simon du Moulin de Labarthète and Directeur Jessy Oukoloff, and the developer of an innovative and creative co-shared space, Hangar 0, in the harbor area of the city.
