AI Applications and Tools for Research Collaboration and Management for Faculty and Students

 

What is it?Academic Cloud” is a web-based platform operated by the GWDG that provides access to various AI applications as well as tools for research collaboration and management. 

What are the possible applications? The platform allows users to work with text, images, video, and audio files, and additional digital tools can also be utilized.

What AI applications are available? Chat AI supports a wide range of language models in the Academic Cloud, which are hosted on the GWDG’s infrastructure or via vetted external providers.

Educational AI services for teachers and students

 

What is it? “EDU-KI-Chat” is a web-based platform that integrates various AI models.

What are the possible applications? The platform enables users to work with text and code and offers features specifically tailored for use in a higher education setting.

The application areas of the available AI models vary and cover a range from everyday queries to more complex analyses and programming support.

In addition, the EDU-KI-Chat can be integrated into OpenOlat courses via LTI.

What is it? „fobizz“ is a web-based platform that provides access to various AI applications.

What are the possible uses? Working with text, images, video, or audio files; additionally, other digital tools can be used and teaching materials can be created.

Which AI applications are available? Claude (4 / 4.5), DeepSeek R1 Distill, GPT (-4o / -4o mini / -5 / -5 mini / -OSS / -oss small), Llama (3 70B / 3 8B), Mistral Mini, Qwen 3, DALL·E 3, GPT-Image 1, FLUX.1, Nano banana, TTS-1, Azure Speech, Whisper

DSGVO compliance? Teachers can provide students with DSGVO compliant access to AI assistance via their classrooms created in fobizz. Students do not need a user account and can work under a pseudonym—no personal data is collected.

How do I get access? The RPTU provides a limited number of licenses for teachers in teacher education.

Image AI

AI-based image generation services for educators and learners

 

What is it? Image AI is a web-based tool that currently uses the FLUX.1 [fast] AI model to generate images from text inputs. 

What are the possible applications? Image AI enables the generation of images from text inputs in English and German. Various settings for width, height, brightness, contrast, and saturation can be adjusted. Additionally, up to 16 images can be created simultaneously. The AI model currently in use, FLUX.1 [fast], is released under the Apache 2.0 license and can be used for private, academic, and commercial purposes.

Voice-AI

AI-based transcription services for teachers and students

 

What is it? Voice-AI is a web-based tool that uses Whisper technology (large-v2) to transcribe and translate audio data. 

What are the possible applications? Voice-AI enables the transcription of audio data from various source languages, including English and German. Additionally, the service offers the option to translate the transcribed texts into English. The results can be downloaded in various formats (plain text, SRT, VTT).
