Simulation game for history or social studies lessons

A simulation game for use in schools on the topic of international security and nuclear weapons

Topic, content and learning objectives

The simulation game simulates the work of an expert commission, on the basis of which the German government formulates guidelines for the foreign and security policy approach to nuclear weapons. The game teaches skills on core political issues such as international security, (nuclear) deterrence and non-proliferation, while at the same time providing insights into democratic negotiation processes and the complexity of government decisions. It offers a wealth of learning experiences from a practical perspective on a topic with special reference to the "stationing location" Rhineland-Palatinate

  • Developed with teachers from and for schools in Rhineland-Palatinate
  • Based on six political options for action that were actually discussed

  • Open outcome of the game
