Lifecycle based Evaluation of new Energy- and Resource-Efficient Concepts for Mobile Working Machines
In today's development of construction equipment the energy and resource efficiency becomes increasingly important. The demand of high flexibility leads to a complex system which contains mechanic, hydraulic and electric subsystems. Because of this complexity the overall effect of energy and resource reduction concepts is often hard to predict especially with eco-efficiency taken into account. This paper presents an approach to estimate the life cycle based efficiency for future concepts on the example of a wheeled excavator. For this purpose, an overall numerical full simulation model of the machine is designed. The developed simulation-tool is used to calculate the energy consumption of the machine with respect to specific user profiles. Based on this, it will become possible to analyze and optimize the current machine focusing on new and innovative mechanical, hydraulic and electric/electronic components and systems. A life cycle assessment guides the whole analysis and optimization process. Therefore, the existing conventional system can be compared with new concepts of energy supply, energy conversion and energy consumption.
