Information about computer glasses (BAP glasses)
For employees who work predominantly at computer screens, we offer occupational health checkups in accordance with the recommendations of the German Social Accident Insurance Association (BG) for “Working at Computer Screens.” These checkups may reveal that special visual aids are necessary for your work.
In accordance with the Occupational Health Care Regulation (ArbMedVV) Appendix Part 4 (2) of December 18, 2008, the employer must provide computer glasses (BAP glasses) in this case. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate reimburses the costs of purchasing the glasses.
The procurement process, including reimbursement of costs, has been revised and significantly simplified compared to the process previously used (as of February 2025).

Step-by-step procedure:
First, make a preventive care appointment with the company doctor using the online appointment request form for the Landau or Kaiserslautern locations.
Once the appointment has been made, the examination will be carried out by the company doctor.
If the eye examination concludes that BAP glasses are necessary, the company doctor will issue the appropriate prescription.
With the prescription, you can go directly to an optician and have the appropriate BAP glasses made (please note the important information on reimbursement listed above). Please ensure that the glasses are listed as computer glasses on the invoice.
You must initially pay for the BAP glasses yourself. After submitting the reimbursement claim to Department 6.4, the costs will be reimbursed and the corresponding amount will be paid into an account specified by you.
- Please submit the prescription from the company doctor and the invoice from the optician together with the reimbursement claim.
Important information about computer glasses (BAP)
The cost of the spectacle frames can be reimbursed up to a maximum of €20. Please ask your optician for appropriately inexpensive models. The additional costs for more expensive frames cannot be reimbursed.
After reimbursement, the spectacles become the property of the employer and must be left at the workplace. Exception: BAP spectacles can of course also be used at your home office workplace.
