The RHRZ offers a considerable number of IT services for both internal and external users; the RHRZ service catalog now includes over 260 IT services for over 40 target groups.

This large number of IT services offered and their partial similarity lead to license and maintenance costs, expenses in the provision and integration of the individual services and an increased need for training. Virtually identical services also lead to additional personnel and costs.

The aim of the project is to reduce the number of IT services offered due to their quantity and partial similarity and/or to harmonize or better coordinate them for the purpose of efficiency and cost savings. To this end, the status quo is first recorded and, following a requirements analysis of the necessary or desired features, the systems in question are analyzed. After an evaluation based on a list of criteria, a decision proposal is drawn up in which the solutions and their possible implementation are presented.

The first project in this series is the "Consolidation Email/Groupware" project. With regard to the functionalities associated with email/groupware, the following three solutions are currently in operation at the RHRZ:

1. Communigate (KL - basically usable for all)

2. exchange (KL but not for students) and

3. SoGo (LD - only available for existing users from LD)

In the future, there should ideally be a solution for both locations with one system.
