Good ideas win!
TeamTime is the university's traditional way of rewarding ideas for the university: Ideas for streamlining administrative processes, promoting innovation, improving the Wellbeing of members at RPTU.
Between February 2022 and December 2025, 18 suggestions for improvement were shortlisted for the award. These were evaluated by President Malte Drescher, Chancellor Stefan Lorenz and Staff Council Chair Beatrix Weber as well as the BGM team, represented by Cornelia Rövekamp. At the award ceremony on 10.2.26, 4 teams or individuals and their ideas were honored. Malte Drescher is delighted: "Here, in this room, the creative elite of the university comes together."
BüroBreakFit: Dr. Memar's team in the Department of International Affairs regularly conducts short exercise sessions. This promotes their health, and employees are directly involved with possible exercises or tips for body and health during preparation. The proposal was awarded the special prize for occupational health management (BGM), which was anchored in the TeamTime service agreement. "Adopt an idea like this in your team!" says Laura Lombardi, who accepts the prize on behalf of the team.
Picnic tables for wheelchair users: The team led by Dr. Dieckmann from Department 5 would like to make existing facilities on campus accessible to people with physical disabilities. Tables with a recess for wheelchair users are to supplement the CampusPlus offer of wooden houses, tables and chairs in Kaiserslautern and Landau. The team has already started implementation: The first prototype of a table was made with the support of Lebenshilfe e.V. and is currently undergoing further technical development.
Stroller parking spaces for the parking garage:Markus Weis from RHRZ saw a hazardous situation for caregivers pushing baby carriages from top to bottom through the parking garage. This was the starting point for his idea to install baby carriage parking spaces. The proposal was partially implemented and the first parking spaces have been marked out to minimize the risk of accidents.
Window contacts and intelligent heating control in WCsIn order to save energy costs, Tatjana Legler from the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering suggested using controllers already in use elsewhere that automatically switch off heating systems when windows are opened. The technology is already sophisticated and now it is a matter of using it at the university. For several years now, these conversion measures have been implemented step by step - with the sustainability goals at RPTU clearly in mind.
The search for good ideas continues
TeamTime is an ongoing quality competition to improve sustainability and job satisfaction at RPTU. Suggestions will continue to be accepted. As before the merger, annual awards will again be presented. Finding efficient solutions in administration and technology as well as health-promoting measures for the university - in everyday university life as well as for the big picture at the university, in Kaiserslautern and in Landau - that is the motto.
