Start of the "Digital identity" project

The E-Services Steering Committee approved the "Digital Identity" project on 19.09.2022.

Verifying the identity of users is a mandatory prerequisite for digitization. However, neither a central office nor a uniform process is currently in place. The aim of the new project is to develop and implement a practicable solution for verifying the identity of users based on official documents. In addition, a working group is to be established to deal with ongoing issues relating to "digital identity" at the university. This includes, for example, role and rights management in connection with the organizational structure.

The first step in the project will be the collection of further technical requirements for identity verification with regard to the conversion of DFN-Verein user certificates. For the technical requirements in the project, the organizational units of the university that (could) have direct points of contact with the verification of identities as part of their work will be involved. This mainly includes the main departments 2, 3 and 4, but other organizational units and working groups will also be considered.
