Interim status "Digital (learning) room equipment"
The impetus for the "Digital (learning) room equipment" project in spring 2023 was the need to upgrade the media technology in lecture halls, seminar and conference rooms at RPTU in Kaiserslautern. The aim of the project is to technically equip selected lecture halls, seminar and conference rooms in such a way that digitally supported teaching, learning and meeting scenarios can be implemented based on the latest state of the art. The measures are central to the merger process, particularly with regard to cross-location teaching and collaboration at RPTU, and are in line with the objectives of the "Digital Strategy for Teaching and Learning".
The project is divided into several sub-projects.
- The range of functions of the 13 (streaming) lecture halls will be expanded. For example, the functionalities video conferencing option and remote maintenance are being implemented. The majority of the lecture halls have already been completed and the first events/training courses have taken place in these rooms. Cross-location course settings can be implemented in the lecture halls.
- A "mirrored seminar room" is to be created in Kaiserslautern (and Landau) as part of the measures for cross-location teaching. After several iterations to adapt the specifications, the first parts of the tendering process have been published. Cross-location events are already planned for the 2024/25 winter semester, in particular as part of the first cross-location degree programs, which will take place in parallel at the Landau and Kaiserslautern campuses.
- The meeting room in Building 47 is being upgraded with media technology for hybrid meetings and special events. All the necessary components were recently delivered, the conversion has been completed and only minor adjustments are still required.
- The Audimax and the Rotunda will also be modernized in a further step. A further tender is currently being prepared for this.
In a follow-up application, there are also plans to create learning spaces for students on campus with modern technical equipment to support learning and collaboration processes in person and virtually.
The project is in cooperation with another E-Services project, the "WLAN Renewal Phase 1", under the direction of Mr. Reuther and Ms. Balthes, in which a good WLAN infrastructure is to be achieved in a first step in buildings 42 to 48 and 1 to 6 (KL location).
