Announcement from the Center for Innovation and Digitalization in Teaching and Learning (ZIDiS)

Dr. Stefan Löhrke, Vice President for Teaching at RPTU in Kaiserslautern, invites the university community to the “Summer School on Learning and Teaching” on October 13:

Due to the rapid development and increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems, higher education is facing fundamental changes; that is why the Summer School on Learning and Teaching, under the slogan “Of Humans and Their Machines—AI in Higher Education,” which strikes a chord with many faculty members and students at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau.

This is at least what can be inferred, given the great interest generated by the LehrePlus workshop on ChatGPT in July. Building on this, the Summer School—a full-day event on October 13 at Villa Denis—will examine AI in higher education from various perspectives.

Through keynote presentations, workshops, and a poster session, the event will address the changes in teaching, learning, and assessment processes brought about by AI tools, present AI applications as subjects of instruction, and create a framework for stimulating discussions and interdisciplinary exchange. This year’s Distinguished Teaching Award will also be presented during the Summer School.

With its annual Summer School on Studies and Teaching, the RPTU in Kaiserslautern aims to initiate and sustain the exchange of experiences regarding teaching among the university’s departments and various stakeholder groups. Current topics are discussed and explored collaboratively in workshops.
