CRC/TRR 173 Spin+X
The Collaborative Research Center CRC/TRR 173 "Spin+X - Spin in its collective environment" at the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz has been investigating various aspects of spin phenomena since January 2016.
Spin+X brings together research groups from the fields of physics, chemistry and engineering sciences. The goal of this interdisciplinary collaboration is a comprehensive research field: this ranges from the theoretical understanding of the fundamentals of spin phenomena to the development of to the development of advanced technological applications such as spintronic structures or magnetic sensors. To make the cooperation between the different approaches of the participating research groups as effective as possible, so-called "supply chains" have been established. These supply chains connect different research projects dealing with the same topic or phenomenon. A regular exchange within each supply chain ensures that both knowledge and open questions can be passed on as quickly and specifically as possible from theory to application and vice versa from practice to basic research.
In addition to the scientific goal of using innovative methods into new areas of explanation and application of spin phenomena, Spin+X pursues the aim of educating and training young and experienced scientists. Special emphasis is placed on the promotion and equality of women.
On these pages you will find latest news on research results, publications and events of the Collaborative Research Center as well as information on the physical backgrounds of the research within Spin+X. We also provide information about the student lab modules being created as part of Spin+X and give teachers and students the opportunity to register for the modules and to download the associated teaching material.
