Electronic lab books are a perfect tool for collaborative work in the lab. In this respect, they are in no way inferior to their paper ancestor: General principles of scientific work are followed (work follows existing, generally accepted professional standards ("lege artis") at the appropriate time, results are documented and results can be consistently self-doubted), all work steps are logged using a data record, data deletion is not possible, immutability is guaranteed by time stamps, and all of this is digitally searchable across different experiments. With the right archiving, additional work in the laboratory can be prevented, the organizational structure in the daily laboratory routine is standardized resulting in a gain in quality and more transparent collaborative work.

A solution which is offered to all researchers of Spin+X is  eLabFTW.

A good start to work with electronic lab books and especially with eLabFTW can be found in the INSTRUCTIONS  section below.
