B12  Spin+AFM/FM-Hybrids: Designing multifunctional AFM/FM hybrid systems with chiral interactions

Project B12 will explore functional spin phenomena of antiferromagnets and hybrid systems containing ferromagnets and antiferromagnets with chiral interactions. We will optimally exploit the stability and speed of antiferromagnets while leveraging the detectability and manipulability of ferromagnets going beyond the static effect of exchange bias. We anticipate finding novel chiral structures and new ways to access and manipulate them. We will do so by means of phenomenology, symmetry analysis and advanced numerical simulations.
